Emmett Till

FILE – This photo provided by his family shows Emmett Till in Chicago, about six months before he was killed in Aug. 1955 while visiting relatives Mississippi. The 14-year-old Chicago boy’s death was a catalyst for the civil rights movement. Two white men charged in the killing, Roy Bryant and his half-brother J.W. Milam, were acquitted by an all-white jury. They confessed to the killing in a 1956 Look magazine article. (AP Photo)
